Gumbi Ortiz

Born and raised in the South Bronx, Gumbi is a master conga percussionist who blends his Puerto Rican/Cuban roots with jazz, fusion, Caribbean, and funk.

He started playing piano and saxophone at a young age and has played with various bands and musicians.

Gumbi is known for his extensive knowledge of percussion and has recorded, performed, and produced music with acclaimed artists.

Gumbi has recorded, performed, and/or produced music with a diverse range of musicians including Phillippe Saisse, Jeff Berlin, Steve Vai, Nat Adderley, Joel Taylor, Cyril Neville, Irvin Mayfield, Bill Summers, Armand Sabal-Lecco, Senri Kawaguchi, Chick Corea, Gato Barbieri, Rick Ross, Young Jeezy, The J.U.S.T.I.C.E League, Jeff Lorber, Dave Weckl, Eric Marienthal, and more.
